Guidelines for MCHCP Coverage
If you are a retired member or approaching retirement, read this area carefully for an understanding of how medical and dental coverage work after retirement. When leaving State employment, you may only continue vision coverage under COBRA provisions.
- If you terminate MCHCP coverage, you cannot enroll at a later date.
- MCHCP cannot cancel your insurance except for non-payment of premiums.
- MCHCP rates are based on group claims experience not individual claims experience.
- MCHCP benefits are the same for retirees as active members.
- Claims payments are based on MCHCP benefits, not benefits determined to be eligible by Medicare.
- MCHCP emergency coverage is worldwide.
