Reinstatement of Coverage
After Dismissal
If you are approved to return to work as a result of legal
or administrative action after being terminated by a State
agency covered under an MCHCP plan, you are allowed to reinstate
your medical benefits retroactively to the date of your dismissal.
If you are reinstated with back pay, you are responsible for
paying any contribution normally made for either your coverage
or your covered dependents. If you participate in the Copay
Plan, no pre-existing condition limitation applies.
If you are reinstated without back pay, your leave is considered
a leave of absence. Consequently, you are responsible for
making any required contribution toward the cost of your medical
benefits. If you do not purchase coverage for the period between
termination and reinstatement, you may regain the same level
of coverage you had prior to termination. If you are a participant
in the Copay Plan, the pre-existing condition limitation applies
if coverage lapsed more than 63
days. This does not apply if you participate in an
HMO.
